Thanks for the effort in 2011-12. Hopefully you will be healthy in 2012-13.

I would love to see you playing here in Los Angeles for the Clippers or Lakers. I might even buy season tickets. LOL

All the best.

This might help in holding on to the ball

Captains of Crush Grippers blazed new trails in the gripper world, taking what had been largely a cheap, imported plaything and turning it into a beautifully designed and crafted tool for serious strength athletes. Made in the USA and known worldwide, nothing else puts power in the palm of your hand like a Captains of Crush Gripper.

1. Nice new cast. Looks pretty light
2. Thought you might find this piece from Hoopsworld interesting. Just saying.

One agent believes that teams in China will be willing to negotiate with locked out players, offering contracts that are structured month-by-month so that the players could return to the NBA once the work stoppage ends. With a simple NBA-out in each deal, players would be able to pad their wallets in China and then return to the United States once a new collective bargaining agreement is ratified. This would obviously be a gamble for the Chinese teams, but it would be a way to generate interest and could pay off long-term if the NBA season is lost

Amir Doubters Are Not The Same As Amir Haters

by Buddahfan on Jun 25, 2011 9:50 AM PDT

This may seem obvious, but it seems that some are still confused about the difference.

An Amir hater is a Raptors fan or writer/blogger who thinks Amir is lousy player and the Raptors should trade him. There are not too many of those but there are still some around here and there.

An Amir doubter is a person who sees Amir and says that is what he is and/or they put his ceiling as a third Big coming off the bench playing 25 mpg. There are a lot of those around. In fact, I would say that the vast majority of Raptors fans, writers/bloggers fall into this category. However, I am not one of them.

ISTM that before all is said in done that not only will he become the Raptors leader on the court and in the locker room but one of the best Power Forwards in the league. I don’t need to get into all the stats but if one wants to get a glimpse of what is to come from Amir just go back and look at his performance last January and February. before he was injured During those two months before he was injured he started 27 games played 29 MPG and averaged 12 PPG, 8 RPG and 1.5 BPG while shooting over 60% from the field and over 75% from the Free Throw line.

That is just a glimpse of what is to come and more from him. Watch and learn doubters.

Buddahfan said in Jun, 2011

Amir hope your recovery is coming along okay. Best wishes for full recovery.

I don’t use Facebook so I will post a short note here about your new teammate.

I saw Valancuinas play a number of games this last season.

I will keep it short. His game reminds me of yours in a lot of ways.

Plays hard all time, battles on both boards, very good in the P & R, runs the floor very well but as fast as you when you are healthy, works very hard in the gym, wants to get better, from interviews seems humble. I can definitely see you and Valanciunas playing together very effectively. He also fouls a lot. LOL

I am very happy with this Raptors pick and hoped the Raptors would draft him ever since I saw him play this last season in Europe.

Every rung up the latter gets harder and harder and takes more work and even more work.

Take care

Two months in a cast.

A perfect time to do upper body, arm and abdomen work.

You always say that keeping muscle mass and weight is difficult because you run so much. Now is your chance of a lifetime – Two whole months of concentrated upper body work.

Heck the Dr. might even let you ride the bike with the cast.

Hopefully everything will be fine after the cast comes off and you start using the ankle.

Loves those videos. Thanks for doing them and putting up on the Net.

Any interest in producing music videos after retirement from the NBA?

What Amir Johnson Can Teach Us All About Life Story-edit

1. Do what you love for your vocation.

This is not an original idea. I learned it many years ago working in the nascent years of the high-tech industry. I worked alongside people who put in 60+ hours a week building something great. Working hard because they loved what they were doing and it never seemed like work to them. The pioneers in the hi-tech industry did what they did because they loved doing it. As a result they laid the seeds for the modern technology marvels that have become commonplace in our daily lives. Things that most of us take for granted.

Yes, a lot of them made an awful lot of money but many did not. However, they all had one thing in common. They loved what they were doing and it was never “work” for them. It was all about loving what they were doing. The long hours and multiple failures never deterred them from putting in the effort that it took to succeed because they loved what they were doing.

2. Never give up and hang your head when the going gets tough

Just keep on keeping on as the saying goes. Continue to put forth the effort despite early and multiple setbacks. The real success stories in life are the people people who never give up despite setbacks and failures. Those who overcome the multiple challenges and setbacks that life offers up . They fight through the early failures, the physical and mental exhaustion and in the case of athletes, also the physical pain. True success in life is achieved by those who refuse to hang their heads and feel sorry for themselves when the going gets tough. When knocked down by early failures they get up off the canvas even though their bodies are saying “No Mas”

Winners in life keep on keeping on and fighting, never letting life’s inevitable hardships and set-backs keep them on the canvas. They have a goal in life and go for it and eventually triumph over their adversaries.

In basketball we see this in the Bad Boys finally breaking through and beating the Celtics in the playoffs. They eventually went on to win two NBA titles and it would have been three if not for that phantom foul call in game six vs the Lakers in 1988. We also see it with Michael and the Bulls finally breaking through against the Bad Boys after seasons of frustrating defeat and then going on to win numerous NBA titles.

3. Ignore your critics and do it your way

Don’t let the critics and so called pundits make you start to doubt yourself. The world is filled with an awfully lot more armchair quarterbacks than it is with Superbowl quarterbacks. These critics can be vicious and mean in their attacks making things up along the way just to try and make themselves feel better. The true champion tunes out the noise made by their critics. The true champions in life do in fact do it like The Chairman of the Board sang.

Title: Frank Sinatra – My Way lyrics

Artist: Frank Sinatra Lyrics

And now, the end is near,
And so I face the final curtain.
My friends, I’ll say it clear;
I’ll state my case of which I’m certain.

I’ve lived a life that’s full -
I’ve travelled each and every highway.
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Regrets? I’ve had a few,
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.

I planned each charted course -
Each careful step along the byway,
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Yes, there were times, I’m sure you knew,
When I bit off more than I could chew,
But through it all, when there was doubt,
I ate it up and spit it out.
I faced it all and I stood tall
And did it my way.

I’ve loved, I’ve laughed and cried,
I’ve had my fill – my share of losing.
But now, as tears subside,
I find it all so amusing.

To think I did all that,
And may I say, not in a shy way -
Oh no. Oh no, not me.
I did it my way.

For what is a man? What has he got?
If not himself – Then he has naught.
To say the things he truly feels
And not the words of one who kneels.
The record shows I took the blows
And did it my way.

Yes, it was my way.

You were 2nd on the Pistons in 2008
You were 2nd on the Pistons in 2007
You were 2nd on the Pistons in 2006.

This is an unbelievable streak and I’m guessing that somebody in the Raptors’ front office noticed it when they signed you in the off season.

Your fans are really going to pissed if you let Chandler keep you out of the starting lineup. You are better than he is despite what the trash talkers say.

2 1/2 more months to add some more muscle and improve your jump shot.

We all lover your game and want to see you in the starting lineup for 2010-11.

Don’t disappoint us and yourself.

Hey Amir I would like to send you a congrats on the new contract!!!

I would also like to throw this out there for you??

I work at Rogers Sportsnet as a 3D/2D Graphic artist (Character animation as well) for the last 7 years.

& the fact is Sportsnet hasn’t had any basketball games for like 2 years now so I haven’t had anything to work on as far as basketball goes for a good long time now….(Thats going to change this season so I thought I would put the word out to you and get a head start and find some B-Ball design work)

I have a link to my work it’s not high res & it’s from 08 but here you can check it out?

I have since done better work but I’m not going to post it on youtube cause people steal things like mad!

That being said Amir if ever you need anything done as far as your website goes please do not hesitate to ask?

BTW I was the designer of the Jack Armstrong Hello T-Shirt a couple of years back I know it was before your time here in the T.O. but you can ask Jack when you see him about the T-shirt he knows me & I used to work with him!

Talk soon!

Greeting Big Dawg, though personally I prefer “Big Cat”

Seems like all the Raptors bloggers and NBA pundits have Ed Davis plugged in the starting lineup for the Raptors as Bosh’s replacement. Your fans know that you are going show that rook where to get the donuts. He will be hot on your heels. However, we know that you can keep him running behind you.

This is your year. Your time has come. All you need is a jump shot to begin to take full advantage of the natural athletic and basketball talents that G-d has blessed you with and to fulfill your destiny as an elite NBA player.
